Material and quality

Developing new products starts with sustainability. We must make choices at all stages of the supply chain – from design, materials, packaging and transport right through to the final product. But the most important part is to develop products that can be used for a long time.  For this reason, we focus on developing products that meet local requirements, use materials with a low carbon footprint, and work closely with local producers to ensure quality throughout the supply chain.

Made of sustainable materials

Hydro CIRCAL
Hydro CIRCAL is a range of prime quality aluminium made with a minimum of 75% recycled end-of-life aluminium (post-consumer scrap), such as façades and windows that have been removed from buildings and fully recycled.

Melting down aluminum for reuse uses just 5% of the energy required for primary aluminum production. So the higher the recycled content of scrap, the better it is for our cities and the environment. Through use of renewable power and modern technology, Hydro can produce cleaner aluminum than ever before. The production process is fully traceable, and the product is certified by an independent third party (DNV GL). This certified production is nothing less than revolutionary in the construction sector.

Hydro REDUXA has a maximum carbon footprint of 4.0 kg CO2 per kg aluminium produced. One-fourth of the global average.
When guaranteeing more than 75% recycled content, we exclusively refer to aluminium that has reached its end of life as a product in use and is brought back into the loop.
100% possibilities – 5% energy

Aluminium can be infinitely recycled. Its quality and material properties are never lost. Furthermore, recycling of end-of-life aluminium uses just 5% of the energy required for primary aluminium production. So the higher the recycled content of post-consumer scrap, the better it is for our cities and the environment.

Low-carbon aluminium

Hydro REDUXA
Hydro REDUXA is our series of low-carbon aluminium. Through the use of renewable energy sources like hydro power, we reduce the carbon footprint per kg aluminium to less than a fourth of the global average. The result is aluminium with one of the world’s lowest carbon footprint to date. Minimizing the carbon footprint of our products and maximizing opportunities for our customers.

Hydro’s product line 4.0 is verified according to ISO 14064 by DNV GL, covering all carbon emissions from bauxite mining and alumina refining to the production of aluminium in electrolysis and casting.

Products developed for Nordic conditions
To make a product last, we must ensure that it can withstand the Nordic climate. Windows, doors and facades are part of the building skin and play an important role. Along with the other elements in the facade, windows and doors are elegant components that help to define the unique architectural aesthetics of the building. At the same time, they play a critical role in energy performance and the building’s interior functions.
